Diagnosis
Diagnose: Tall Fescue Brown Patch
Follow these steps to identify and confirm the problem.
- Dark-edged lesions on upright blades separate brown patch from a dry lawn
- Part the grass at the edge where green blades meet fresh tan foliage and inspect several individual blades. Brown patch becomes likely when irregular tan lesions have chocolate-brown borders, the soil still carries moisture, and damage advances after warm humid nights. Dry folded blades over dry soil suggest drought, while greasy matted leaves or turf that lifts without roots require a different diagnosis.
