This disclosure explains KnowTheYard’s current commercial status and the rules that apply if advertising, affiliate links, sponsorships, free products, or other material relationships appear on the site.
Current Commercial Status
Display advertising
Display advertising is not currently enabled in the site runtime. Configuration may exist without ads being shown to visitors.
Affiliate links
Amazon Associates links are not currently enabled in the site runtime. Ordinary retailer links should not be assumed to be affiliate links.
Status can change as the site develops. The decisive signal is the disclosure shown on the relevant page or near a commercial link, together with this page’s current status. A configuration value, draft integration, or archived link does not by itself mean that a revenue program is active.
Advertising and Editorial Separation
Research questions, sources, conclusions, comparisons, cautions, and corrections belong to the editorial process. An advertiser, merchant, sponsor, product supplier, or affiliate network does not receive the right to choose our conclusion, remove a material limitation, approve criticism, or prevent a correction.
Commercial teams may control
Campaign logistics, supplied factual materials about their own organization, permitted creative assets, tracking requirements, and whether they accept an offered placement.
Editorial retains
Topic fit, evidence standards, wording, comparison set, safety context, recommendation, update decisions, and the final decision to publish or decline.
Payment is never evidence that a plant, tool, or method works. Product claims must be evaluated using sources appropriate to the claim.
Advertising and data
When advertising is enabled, an advertising service may use cookies, browser storage, IP address, device information, page activity, or similar signals to deliver, limit, measure, or personalize ads according to its settings and applicable choices. KnowTheYard’s Privacy Policy explains data categories, purposes, providers, cookies, retention, and reader controls more fully.
We aim to avoid layouts that disguise an advertisement as editorial navigation or place a commercial control where a reader would reasonably mistake it for an article recommendation. An ad label identifies a paid placement; it does not mean KnowTheYard endorses every claim or destination in the advertisement.
Affiliate Links
An affiliate link is a trackable link that may pay KnowTheYard a commission or other benefit when a reader completes a qualifying action. The reader should not pay a higher price merely because a properly configured affiliate link was used, but price, stock, shipping, warranty, returns, and seller terms remain controlled by the merchant.
- A page with affiliate links should show a clear disclosure before or close to the first relevant link.
- Link labels should identify the destination or action instead of hiding the commercial nature behind vague language.
- Affiliate availability must not determine whether a material disadvantage is omitted.
- A comparison should not exclude the better-fitting choice solely because it has no commission.
- Broken, redirected, or incorrectly tagged links should be corrected or removed.
Amazon Associates
If the program is activated, this section and affected pages will state: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” Until then, readers should not interpret a mention of Amazon or an ordinary Amazon link as evidence that KnowTheYard receives a commission.
Sponsored Content, Free Products, and Other Benefits
Sponsored work is content or placement supported by payment or another material benefit. A free sample, loan, travel support, early access, discount, or ongoing business relationship can also matter to a reader even when no cash changes hands. We disclose the relationship in plain language where it can affect interpretation.
Sponsored
A party paid for the defined project or placement. The label should appear prominently.
Product supplied
A product was provided free or on loan. Supply does not guarantee coverage or a favorable result.
Affiliate
A qualifying action through a tracked link may generate compensation.
No material connection
No known payment, supplied product, or commission relationship affected the item described.
We may decline proposals that require hidden links, prewritten praise, unsupported performance claims, editorial approval by the sponsor, or conditions that prevent an honest update.
Questions or a missing disclosure
If a link, product mention, advertisement, or partnership appears inconsistent with this page, send the URL, location on the page, and reason for concern to [email protected]. We will trace the status in the runtime and content owner rather than infer it from appearance alone.
Commercial transparency is also an editorial correction issue. A confirmed missing or inaccurate disclosure should be fixed on the affected page and, when necessary, in the shared component or configuration that introduced it.
How to read a recommendation
A recommendation means that the described option appears to fit a defined use and set of constraints based on the evidence available when the page was prepared. It is not a promise that the item will remain in stock, keep the same formulation, match every seller listing, or outperform every alternative in every yard.
Before purchasing, confirm dimensions, materials, compatibility, plant identity, application site, current label, warranty, return terms, and local restrictions. Merchant ratings and customer reviews can reveal practical issues, but they are not a substitute for the controlling safety information or a fair comparison.
Corrections to commercial information
Tracking can be added incorrectly, merchant destinations can redirect, and a program may be disabled while an old disclosure remains. We treat those as owner-layer defects: check runtime status, inspect the affected content, correct the shared link or component, and verify the live page. This approach prevents one visible repair from leaving the same inaccurate status elsewhere.
