Diagnose: Pomegranate Fruit Cracking

1. A clean split after rain points first to a dry-to-wet moisture swing
2. Look at the rind before changing the irrigation. A clean opening through otherwise normal skin, especially on several ripe fruit after rain or a deep watering, fits a pressure split. A dry dark patch on the sun-facing shoulder points to sunburn, while a puncture, black powder, soft brown arils, or a sour smell means the fruit was wounded or infected and needs to be discarded rather than treated as a simple water crack.
