Follow these steps to identify and confirm the problem.
- The frond position separates normal aging from active stress
- Start at the center spear and work downward. One oldest bottom frond yellowing slowly can retire normally, several soft lower fronds above wet soil point toward oxygen-starved roots, a light dry pot supports drought stress, and pale or distorted new growth needs a light, root, or nutrient check. Narrow crisp tips on otherwise green leaflets belong to the brown-tip diagnosis.
