Diagnose: Boston Fern Yellow Fronds

1. The soil state and the age of the yellow fronds reveal the cause
2. Push a finger about an inch into the mix and lift the pot. Wet, heavy mix plus limp yellow fronds points toward oxygen-starved roots, while a light pot, dry mix, curled leaflets, and shedding point toward drought. If the mix feels evenly moist, look at the crown. One or two yellow outer fronds below fresh green croziers are usually old growth being replaced. Yellowing across several ages of frond means you should next check light, recent cold exposure, nutrition, and the undersides of the leaflets for pests.
